Alarm Integration for a Cold Storage Facility

We installed an energised electric fence perimeter system fully integrated with an alarm panel and GSM communicator at FreshKeep Logistics. The facility stores perishable goods and operates 24 hours a day, so perimeter security needed to work without supervision. The electric fence energiser links directly to the alarm panel, so any breach triggers an immediate alert to the armed response company and the facility manager. GSM backup ensures the alarm communicates even if the landline gets cut. Zone-based detection tells the control room exactly which section of the fence was triggered, speeding up response time. The installer configured the full system remotely after commissioning, cutting ongoing maintenance visits.

  • Remote Configuration for Installers
  • GSM Backup Communication
  • Tamper Detection Built In

The Challenge

FreshKeep had experienced three perimeter breaches in eight months, two of which resulted in stock theft, costing the business over R200,000 in losses and insurance complications. Their existing fence was passive, with no alarm integration, so breaches were only discovered the following morning during shift changeover. The facility operated overnight with minimal staff, meaning no one monitored the perimeter during the highest-risk hours. Management knew their insurance premium was about to increase significantly unless they showed a credible security upgrade.

The Approach

We mapped the full perimeter and divided it into eight independent detection zones so any alert pinpoints the exact breach location within seconds. The energiser was wired directly into the alarm panel with a dedicated GSM communicator that bypasses the landline entirely. Armed response now receives an alert with a zone reference the moment any section of the fence is touched, cutting their average response time by more than half. FreshKeep’s insurer reviewed the installation and confirmed a reduction in the insurer’s commercial premises premium for the next renewal.
